Port functions: Ethernet ports include 10/100/1000 Mbit/s twisted pair ports, 10/100 Mbit/s twisted pair ports, 10/100 Mbit/s PoE ports, 1000 Mbit/s F/O ports, and 100 Mbit/s F/O ports, which support different standards and functions; AUI ports can be connected to specific devices with their corresponding functions and default settings. The AUI ports can be connected to specific devices with their corresponding functions and default settings.

Display Components: Device status, display status, and port status are indicated by different LEDs, reflecting various information such as device operation, port connection, and so on.
Installation Guide: The installation process covers checking the package, installing the media module, setting the DIP switches, connecting the power and signal contacts, mounting the device to the DIN rail and grounding it, and connecting the data cables, with detailed instructions and precautions for each step.

Basic Settings: The first installation requires IP parameters to be set, which can be configured through the V.24 interface, BOOTP, DHCP, etc. The default settings include the IP address acquisition method. The default settings include IP address acquisition method, management password, etc. It is recommended to change the default password when logging in for the first time to enhance security.

Working Principle
Signal Conversion Principle: This media converter can convert different types of network signals to achieve interconnection between devices. In industrial environments, the conversion of common Ethernet signals and optical fibre signals is an important function. In a factory automation line, for example, where the sensor devices at the front end may transmit data via optical fibre and the control system at the back end uses Ethernet for data processing, the MM20 – M2M2M2TAHH media converter precisely converts optical signals transmitted via optical fibre into electrical signals over Ethernet and vice versa, guaranteeing smooth data transmission between the different media.

The signal conversion process is based on a specific chip and circuit design. The internal converter chip is able to analyse and process the incoming signals and convert them to the target signal format according to the appropriate protocols and standards, ensuring accuracy and stability during the conversion process.

Port Interaction Principle: There are various types of ports, and different ports have their own functions and collaborate with each other to achieve data transmission. The Ethernet port supports 10/100/1000Base-T adaptive rate, which can automatically recognise the Ethernet transmission rate of the device connected to it and adapt to it. When connecting devices with different rates, such as 100Mbps old devices and 1000Mbps new devices, the port can automatically adjust the rate to ensure the compatibility of data transmission. Fibre optic ports enable long distance, high speed data transmission depending on the type of fibre (multimode or singlemode) and wavelength.

Multimode fibre ports can transmit up to 550m at 1000Mbps under 50/125μm specification, which is suitable for data interaction between equipment in different workshops within a factory; single-mode fibre ports can extend the transmission distance to several kilometres at 1310nm wavelength, which meets the needs of cross-factory data communication in large-scale industrial parks. Data interaction between ports follows the relevant Ethernet protocols and fibre optic transmission standards, ensuring accurate and fast data transmission between ports.

Network Adaptation Principle: In complex industrial network environments, the MM20 – M2M2M2TAHH media converter is equipped with powerful network adaptation capabilities. It supports a wide range of industrial Ethernet protocols, such as Modbus TCP, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and so on.

This allows different brands and types of industrial automation equipment to communicate and interact with each other via the media converter, even if they use different protocols. In an industrial automation production line containing multiple brands of controllers and sensors, the media converter can convert and transmit the data of devices using Modbus TCP protocol to achieve interoperability and co-operation of the entire production line. In addition, it can adapt to different network topologies, whether it is a bus, star or ring network, can work stably, to ensure the reliability and stability of industrial networks.
